(1903–69), English writer of science fiction; pseudonym of John Wyndham Parkes Lucas Beynon Harris. His fiction often examines the psychological impact of catastrophe. Notable novels: The Day of the Triffids (1951), The Chrysalids (1955), and The Midwich Cuckoos (1957).
