Definition of Lancaster, Burt
(1913–94), US movie actor; full name Burton Stephen Lancaster. He made his debut in The Killers (1946) and was often cast in “tough guy” roles. Notable movies: From Here to Eternity (1953), Elmer Gantry (1960), and Field of Dreams (1989).
