Definition of Zapata, Emiliano
(1879–1919), Mexican revolutionary. Zapata attempted to implement his programme of agrarian reform by means of guerrilla warfare. From 1914 he and Pancho Villa fought against the regimes of General Huerta and Venustiano Carranza.
