Definition of World Federation of Trade Unions
  • an association of trade unions founded in 1945, with headquarters in Prague. In 1949 most of the representatives from non-Communist countries withdrew and founded the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions; the WFTU is now composed largely of groups from developing countries.
