Definition of Welty, Eudora
(1909–2001), American novelist, short-story writer, and critic. Welty’s novels chiefly focus on life in the Southern states of the US and contain Gothic elements; they include The Optimist’s Daughter (1972), which won the Pulitzer Prize.
