  • (b.1933), American theoretical physicist. He devised a theory to unify electromagnetic interactions and the weak forces within the nucleus of an atom, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1979, shared with Sheldon Lee Glashow and Abdus Salam.
