  • (1902–83), English composer; full name Sir William Turner Walton. Notable works: Façade (1921-3, a setting of poems by Edith Sitwell for recitation), the oratorio Belshazzar’s Feast (1930-1), and film scores for three Shakespeare plays and the film The Battle of Britain (1969).
