Definition of Struve, Otto
  • (1897–1963), Russian-born American astronomer. He was mainly interested in spectroscopic investigations into the composition, evolution, and rotation of stars, but his most important contribution was his discovery of the presence of ionized hydrogen in interstellar space (1938).
