Definition of Strategic Arms Limitation Talks
  • a series of negotiations between the US and the Soviet Union aimed at the limitation or reduction of nuclear armaments, which produced the Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty. The talks were organized from 1968 onwards and held in stages until superseded by the START negotiations in 1983.
