  • (1935–2004), French novelist, dramatist, and short-story writer; pseudonym of Françoise Quoirez. She rose to fame with her first novel Bonjour Tristesse (1954); in this and subsequent novels she examined the transitory nature of love as experienced in brief liaisons.
