Definition of Reinhardt, Max
  • (1873–1943), Austrian director and impresario; born Max Goldmann. He produced large-scale versions of such works as Sophocles' Oedipus Rex (1910), and helped establish the Salzburg Festival, with Richard Strauss and Hugo von Hofmannsthal.
