  • (1873–1943), Russian composer and pianist, resident in the US from 1917; full name Sergei Vasilevich Rachmaninov. Part of the Russian romantic tradition, he is primarily known for his compositions for piano, including concertos and the Prelude in C sharp minor (1892).
