  • (circa 61-circa 112), Roman senator and writer, nephew of Pliny the Elder; Latin name Gaius Plinius Caecilius Secundus; known as Pliny the Younger. He is noted for his books of letters which deal with both public and private affairs and which include a description of the eruption of Vesuvius in 79.
