Definition of Otho, Marcus Salvius
( ad 32-69), Roman emperor January-April 69. He was proclaimed emperor after he had procured the death of Galba in a conspiracy of the praetorian guard, but the German legions, led by their imperial candidate, Vitellius, defeated his troops and Otho committed suicide.
