Definition of Mussorgsky, Modest
(1839–81), Russian composer; full name Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky. His best-known works include the opera Boris Godunov (1874), Songs and Dances of Death (1875-7), and the piano suite Pictures at an Exhibition (1874).
