Definition of Mulhouse
  • an industrial city in NE France, in Alsace; population 112,260 (2006). It was a free imperial city until it joined the French Republic in 1798. In 1871, after the Franco-Prussian War, the city became part of the German Empire until it was reunited with France in 1918. German name Mühlhausen.
