  • (1926–62), American actress; born Norma Jeane Mortenson; later Norma Jean Baker. Her film roles, largely in comedies, made her the definitive Hollywood sex symbol. She is thought to have died of an overdose of sleeping pills. Notable films: Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), Some Like it Hot (1959), and The Misfits (1961).
