  • (1915–2005), American dramatist. He established his reputation with Death of a Salesman (1949). The Crucible (1953) used the Salem witch trials of 1692 as an allegory for McCarthyism in America in the 1950s. Miller was married to Marilyn Monroe between 1955 and 1961.
