Definition of Mies van der Rohe, Ludwig
  • (1886–1969), German-born architect and designer. He designed the German pavilion at the 1929 International Exhibition at Barcelona and the Seagram Building in New York (1954-8), and was noted for his tubular steel furniture. He was director of the Bauhaus 1930-3.
