Definition of Medawar, Sir Peter
(1915–87), English immunologist; full name Sir Peter Brian Medawar. He studied the biology of tissue transplantation, and showed that the rejection of grafts was the result of an immune mechanism. Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine (1960).
