Definition of Lytton, 1st Baron
(1803–73), British novelist, dramatist, and statesman; born Edward George Earle Bulwer-Lytton. He achieved literary success with Pelham (1828), a novel of fashionable society, and also wrote historical romances (such as The Last Days of Pompeii, 1834) and plays. He became an MP in 1831.
