Definition of Lysenko, Trofim Denisovich
(1898–1976), Soviet biologist and geneticist. He was an adherent of Lamarck’s theory of evolution by the inheritance of acquired characteristics. Since his ideas harmonized with Marxist ideology he was favoured by Stalin and dominated Soviet genetics for many years.
