Definition of Landseer, Sir Edwin Henry
  • (1802–73), English painter and sculptor. He is best known for his animal subjects such as The Monarch of the Glen (1851). As a sculptor he is chiefly remembered for the bronze lions in Trafalgar Square (1867).
