- (b.1963), Azerbaijani chess player of Armenian-Jewish descent; born Garry Weinstein. At the age of 22 he became the youngest-ever world champion, defeating Anatoli Karpov in 1985; he held the title until 2000. He won a match against the IBM computer Deep Blue in 1996 but in 1997 was beaten by Deeper Blue.
