Definition of Hendrix, Jimi
(1942–70), American rock guitarist and singer; full name James Marshall Hendrix. Remembered for the flamboyance and originality of his improvisations, he greatly widened the scope of the electric guitar. Notable songs: ‘Purple Haze’ (1967), ‘All Along the Watchtower’ (1968).
