Definition of Hahn, Otto
  • (1879–1968), German chemist, co-discoverer of nuclear fission. Together with Lise Meitner he discovered the new element protactinium in 1917. The pair discovered nuclear fission in 1938 with Fritz Strassmann (1902–80). Nobel Prize for Chemistry (1944).
