Definition of Frisch, Otto Robert
  • (1904–79), Austrian-born British physicist. With his aunt, Lise Meitner, he recognized that Otto Hahn’s experiments with uranium had produced a new type of nuclear reaction. Frisch named it nuclear fission, and indicated the explosive potential of its chain reaction.
