Definition of Eden, Anthony
1st Earl of Avon (1897–1977), British Conservative statesman, Prime Minister 1955-7; full name Robert Anthony Eden. His premiership was dominated by the Suez crisis of 1956; widespread opposition to Britain’s role in this led to his resignation.
