- (1890–1969), English writer; pseudonym of Richmal Crompton Lamburn. She made her name with Just William (1922), a collection of stories for children about a mischievous schoolboy, William Brown. She published a further thirty-seven collections based on the same character, as well as some fifty books for adults.
