Definition of Chernenko, Konstantin
(1911–85), Soviet statesman, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the USSR and President 1984-5; full name Konstantin Ustinovich Chernenko. He died after only thirteen months in office and was succeeded by Mikhail Gorbachev.
