  • a US pop and rock group led by Roger McGuinn (b.1942). Known for their pure vocal harmonies, they became successful with versions of Bob Dylan songs such as ‘Mr Tambourine Man’ (1965), later experimenting with elements of jazz and Eastern music before becoming one of the first rock groups to play country music.
