Definition of Bunyan, John
(1628–88), English writer. A Nonconformist, he was imprisoned twice for unlicensed preaching, during which time he wrote his spiritual autobiography Grace Abounding (1666) and began his major work The Pilgrim’s Progress (1678–84).
