Definition of Brown, Lancelot
(1716–83), English landscape gardener; known as Capability Brown. He evolved an English style of natural-looking landscape parks. Notable examples of his work are at Blenheim Palace, Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, and Kew Gardens.
