Definition of Braun, Wernher von
(1912–77), German-born American rocket engineer; full name Wernher Magnus Maximilian von Braun. Braun led development on the V-2 rockets used by Germany in the Second World War. After the war he moved to the US, where he pioneered the work which resulted in the US space programme.
