Definition of Bloch, Ernest
(1880–1959), Swiss-born American composer, of Jewish descent. His work reflects the influence of the late 19th-century romanticism of Liszt and Richard Strauss and Jewish musical forms. Notable works: the Israel Symphony (1912–16) and Solomon (1916).
