confident
Pronunciation: /ˈkɒnfɪd(ə)nt/
adjective

Origin:
late 16th century: from French confident(e), from Italian confidente, from Latin confident- 'having full trust', from the verb confidere, from con- (expressing intensive force) + fidere 'trust'

Do not confuse confident with confidant. Confident means 'believing that you can do things well' ( a confident, outgoing girl), whereas confidant means 'a person that you tell private or secret things to' ( she was a close confidant of the princess).
