Definition of Zworykin, Vladimir
(1889–1982), US physicist and television pioneer, born in Russia; full name Vladimir Kuzmich Zworykin. He invented a precursor to the television camera, the first to scan an image electronically. This had been developed into the first practical television camera by about 1929.
