Definition of Zeppelin, Ferdinand von
Count (1838–1917), German aviation pioneer; full name Ferdinand Adolf Heinrich August Graf von Zeppelin. An army officer until his retirement in 1890, he devoted the rest of his life to the development of the dirigible airship named after him.
