Definition of Walker, Sarah Breedlove
(1867–1919), US entrepreneur and philanthropist; known as Madame C. J. Walker. She invented and marketed a preparation to straighten hair in 1905 and built her business into the largest African-American-owned firm in the US, giving much of her wealth to black educational institutions and charities.
