- two groups of Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. The Northern Sporades, which lie close to the eastern coast of mainland Greece, include the islands of Euboea, Skiros, Skiathos, and Skopelos. The Southern Sporades, situated off the western coast of Turkey, include Rhodes and the other islands of the Dodecanese.
