Definition of Spock, Benjamin McLane
(1903–98), US pediatrician and writer; known as Dr. Spock. His influential manual The Common Sense Book of Baby and Child Care, first published in 1946, challenged traditional ideas in child-rearing in favor of a psychological approach.
