Definition of Persian Gulf
- an arm of the Arabian Sea, to which it is connected by the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman. It extends northwest between the Arabian peninsula and the coast of southwestern Iran. Also called Arabian Gulf; informally the Gulf (see gulf).
