  • (1899–1977), US novelist and poet, born in Russia; full name Vladimir Vladimorovich Nabokov. His most notable novel is Lolita (1955), about a middle-aged man’s obsession with a 12-year-old girl. Other notable works: The Real Life of Sebastian Knight (1941), Pale Fire (1962), and Ada: A Family Chronicle (1969).
