(1925–94), Greek actress and politician; born Anna Amalia Mercouri. Her movies include Never on Sunday (1960) and Phaedra (1962). Exiled for opposing the military junta that took power in Greece in 1967, she was elected to Parliament in 1978 and became minister of culture in 1985.
