  • Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, a movie company formed in 1924 from a merger including studios originally run by Samuel Goldwyn and Louis B. Mayer. The company released both The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind in 1939, and also produced many famous musicals, including Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) and An American in Paris (1951).
