  • (1853–1928), Dutch theoretical physicist; full name Hendrik Antoon Lorentz. He worked on the forces affecting electrons and realized that electrons and cathode rays were the same thing. Nobel Prize for Physics (1902), shared with Pieter Zeeman (1865–1943).
