Definition of Hillary, Sir Edmund
(1919–2008), New Zealand mountaineer and explorer; full name Sir Edmund Percival Hillary. In 1953, Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, as members of a British expedition, were the first people to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
