Definition of Gielgud, Sir John
(1904–2000), English actor and director; full name Arthur John Gielgud. A notable Shakespearean actor, particularly remembered for his interpretation of the role of Hamlet, he also appeared in contemporary plays and movies, including the film Arthur (1980).
