Definition of Crick, Francis
  • (1916–2004), English biophysicist; full name Francis Harry Compton Crick. With James Watson, he proposed the double helix structure of the DNA molecule, thus broadly explaining how genetic information is carried in living organisms and how genes replicate. Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine (1962), shared with Watson and Maurice Wilkins.
