Definition of Chaney
the name of a family of US actors, notably: Lon (1883–1930); full name Alonso Chaney. A silent film star known as the Man of a Thousand Faces, he played a wide variety of deformed villains and macabre characters in more than 150 movies, including The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923) and The Phantom of the Opera (1925). Lon, Jr. (1906–1973), Lon’s son; born Creighton Tull Chaney. He played the lead in a number of horror movies, such as The Wolf Man (1941) and Son of Dracula (1943).
